The first Rickson Gracie Cup was held in Los Angeles, produced by the Rickson Gracie International Jiu-Jitsu Association, back in 2000. This first Rickson Cup is still known to be the most organized Jiu-Jitsu event ever produced.


   In 2008, the Jiu-Jitsu Federation of Japan (JJFJ)  brought for the first time the Rickson Gracie Cup to Japan.

Held in May at the famous stadium Hamamatsu Arena, the first Rickson Cup gathered more then 500 athletes from all Japan, and from abroad.


   Some of the Jiu-Jitsu big names competing in this event were, Kron Gracie, son of Rickson, and Pan-Am and World Champion, Andre Galvão, World champion, and Pan Am Champion,  Eduardo Teles, Pan am champion, and many others.

The next Rickson Cup followed in 2009, held at the same Hamamatsu Arena, in June. 


   The number of participants increased to more then 700, and again we had top athletes from Japan, and from abroad, such as, seven times World Champion - Robson Moura, World Champion and ADCC Champion - Rafael Mendes, World Champion and Arizona BJJ Federation President - Gustavo Dantas, World Champion - Abmar Barbosa, and others.


   We had also the special participation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) official team of 15 athletes, sponsored by Abu Dhabi government, and the Korean Official team of 12 athletes sponsored by the Korean Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It was the first competition in Japan with official teams form abroad.  

   In November 20th, 2010, for the their time consecutive, the Rickson Gracie Cup was held in Japan at Kawasaki Todoroki Arena. This was the first Rickson Cup in Tokyo.


   One more time world top champions such as Kron Gracie, Rafael Mendes, Guilherme Mendes, Braulio Estima participated, showing amazing performance on the mat.

   This year, the JJFJ will produce for the forth time in Japan, the Rickson Gracie Cup 2011.


   On October 23rd, at one Komawaza Olympic Stadium (used on the Tokyo Olympics), we will be gathering again, the best Jiu-Jitsu athletes of Japan, of Asian, and of the World.


   Some big names such as, Kron Gracie, Rafael and Guilherme Mendes, Bruno Frazzato, and Romulo Barral already confirmed their participation.
